Jyoti Community Development Service Nepal (Jyoti Nepal) successfully organized a three-day training program on the prevention of human trafficking, rescue, rehabilitation and psychosocial counseling from April 7 to 9, 2026, in Bharatpur, Chitwan, Bagmati Province, Nepal.
The training brought together all staff members of Jyoti Nepal from across the country, along with several board members and was facilitated by Advocate Madan Thapa, a legal professional and experienced lawyer and psychosocial counselor. The program was designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, practical skills, and sensitivity in responding to issues of human trafficking and survivor care.
Throughout the training, participants gained a deeper understanding of the concept, causes, forms, and impacts of human trafficking, as well as the risks faced by vulnerable individuals at the community and border levels. The sessions also focused on building practical skills for identifying potential victims, safe interception and rescue, repatriation, family reintegration and social and economic rehabilitation.
A major part of the training emphasized psychosocial counseling, including basic counseling principles, trauma management, active listening, and victim-friendly behavior. Participants were also oriented on the importance of confidentiality, human rights protection, and Nepal’s legal provisions related to human trafficking.
This training marks an important step in strengthening Jyoti Nepal’s institutional capacity to prevent trafficking, support survivors, and respond more effectively to cases with compassion, professionalism, and a survivor-centered approach.
